A ‘must do’ whilst in Queenstown

We traveled as a family with two teenagers and we had an unforgettable day! Lots of beautiful sights, jaw dropping vistas and the drive there and back was easy and fun with our guide Danny.

An unforgettable Milford Sound experience

Our trip to Milford Sound with Danny was absolutely outstanding. From the moment we set off, it felt like a truly curated experience rather than a standard tour. Danny’s dramatic, perfectly timed music playlist made the landscapes feel cinematic, and his commentary struck the perfect balance between informative and entertaining. He was an exceptionally safe and confident driver, which made the long journey relaxing and enjoyable. What really set this tour apart was stopping at scenic viewpoints along the way that the big coaches simply drive past—those quiet moments and photo opportunities were priceless. Add in the entertaining commentary and constant banter, and the whole day felt personal, relaxed, and full of laughs. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you want more than just a bus ride to Milford Sound.

Amazing experience thanks!

We had an amazing experience thanks to Shura! She picked us up / dropped us off at the designated place. She was so lovely and bubbly and her drive there and back was full of information and short stops. She made the long drive really enjoyable with her info and playlists which made time fly. The food provided was also tasty. Husband is gluten intolerant which we told them in advance and they were very accommodating. The boat trip at Milford Sounds was also amazing. Lots of information and the option to be seated inside and outside. Option to have a warm drink as well.

Beautiful views

Amazing scenery, glenn was fantastic and very knowledgeable. Ensured from the beginning that we had snacks and everything we needed. Lots of beautiful stops to break up the journey and the cruise itself was fantastic. Nice to be in a smaller boat and a smaller mini bus. Much nicer experience! The second time I've used cheeky kiwi and would recommend them to everyone!

Small groups make good times

Our small group was friendly and welcoming. Our tour guide, Glynn, was funny and helpful. Went above and beyond to get another lunch for me when mine got misplaced. I liked the fact that nothing was too rigid: We made plenty of stops and our tour guide asked us if we needed another bathroom break in route back which we didn’t. Part of the benefit of small groups is having that flexibility.

A Truly Remarkable Experience - Would Highly Recommend for Anyone Visiting

Because it was our first time visiting New Zealand, we had felt that booking the Milford Sound Group Tour and Cruise from Queenstown would be a good idea. Sure enough, it did not disappoint, and I would say it was a major highlight of our trip! The views on the cruise were phenomenal and the boat ride was safe and not too rough and afforded a truly scenic and overall picturesque experience of Milford Sound. We were able to catch some of the mist from the waterfalls and packed ponchos just in case but thankfully did not get too wet. We were also lucky enough to spot the local seals resting in the sun and concluded with a beautiful view of the open ocean! It helped that the weather was fortunately just perfect in terms of sunshine and temperature, especially when considering how unpredictable conditions can often be in Queenstown as we'd learned, so would still recommend packing warm wear and ponchos to prepare for the worst. As for the day tour, our guide was named Glen and he was from Ireland, and was one of the main reasons the day turned out as well as it did and made the experience that much more interesting. He was very well-organized and knowledgable and was also engaging and open to learning more from us and our group. Some of the stops we'd made on the tour were Te Anau, the Fiordlands, the Mirror Lakes, and several scenic lookout points that provided unbelievably beautiful views of the crystal clear lakes and snow-capped mountains. We were able to eat lunch at any point during the tour, but we saved it for just before the cruise because there was a nice sit-down lounge on the lower deck of our boat. The lunches were surprisingly tasty and filling and also healthier than foods we've eaten on other tours. On the drive back, we were lucky enough to spot a kea, a local exotic bird, followed by a relaxing stop at the same cafe from where our lunches were picked up at the beginning of the tour. Overall, this experience was with a smaller group and may seem more pricey compared to the larger coach bus tours, but definitely worthwhile if looking for something more intimate and individualized. Shout out to Cheeky Kiwi and Glen for giving us the best experience! If I get the chance to visit NZ again, will definitely put Milford Sound on the top of my list of places to revisit. Although the place is undoubtedly photogenic, no amount of photos can capture the true beauty of the real deal. Strongly recommended is all I have to say!

Beautiful outing to Milford sound.

Beautiful outing to Milford Sound, small group allowed us to stop at some extra spot. Chris was a great host and on point with the music. Pickup and drop off was well communicated and timely. There is a stop along the way where snacks and coffee are available in addition to the provided lunch. The vegan lunch was good.
