Excellent road trip filled with fun facts and stories
Had a bit of a scare this morning as the pickup was late by 30min past original time. Despite this, I’d still rate the experience excellent. The team was responsive and emphatic, so it all worked out in the end. The tour experience was great, our guide Ben was friendly and attentive, with incredible knowledge of the history, nature, flora & fauna and legends around Rotorua, which made the road trip that much more enjoyable. Hobbiton was such a highlight to see the movie comes to life IRL, the town felt alive and real, and the interior of the Hobbit holes were extremely detailed, exquisite. Would recommend!

Auckland to Hobbiton tour
Auckland to Hobbiton tour was brilliant. Our tour guide, Mr. John was absolutely fantastic and as the company name goes, was very “Cheeky”. We had a wonderful time. If your are in Auckland and want to do Hobbiton tour then Cheeky Kiwi is the go-to company and once again special mention to Mr. John.

Absolutely amazing tour! When they say tour, they meant tour starting from the pick up at your accomodations. Got to know not only about the Hobbiton movie set but also a little unexpected tour of NZ/Auckland itself! Amazing! Auckland to Rotorua via Hobbiton Small Group Tour (One Way)
What a fantastic experience! loved being able to transfer with my luggage from Auckland to Rotorua and include such an iconic experience at Hobbiton! our driver guide picked a great rest stop on our way for breakfast allowing for the perfect amount of time to order food enjoy eating it and to use the washroom. our guide was very knowledgeable along the whole trip and provided very clear instructions as to where and when to be so we didn't miss our Hobbiton entrance. our group had only 8 people in the vehicle which allowed for plenty of space to stretch out for the drive. the vehicle also included USB ports to charge devices. Hobbiton was such a surprise and blew me away! this is a must stop to experience while in New Zealand! I would highly recommend Cheeky Kiwi and the Auckland to Rotorua via Hobbiton Small Group Tour (One Way)

We had so much fun! Dave was such a great guide. Always looking out for us to find the best way to experience the journey. He kept giving us tips on where to sit for the best views, or where to take the best photos. Weather was on our side, so we had a beautiful journey to Hobbiton, and we got to learn a lot about the history and culture of the area. Thanks Dave!

Hobbiton Fun On The Way To Rotorua
Our one way tour from Auckland to Rotorua was an incredible experience. Our pickup at our hotel was timely and our guide, Simon, was incredibly informative and supported everyone’s needs. Our stop at Hobbiton was an amazing movie set tour. Our small group was kept on pace to make time for the rest of our stops. There was some road work we waited for on the way to Rotorua, but Simon was patient and found ways to make up time throughout the day. We enjoyed seeing the geysers and kiwis at Te Pau.

Excellent Tour and Outstanding Guide
The experience was very good. We really liked our guide, Liam, from the moment he picked us up, thanks to his friendliness, his help with our luggage, and his punctuality. The tour was excellent; Liam made an effort to share interesting information about the places we passed along the way. When we arrived at the Waitomo Caves, we really enjoyed the experience, and afterward we had the opportunity to visit an electrical substation that we didn’t know was part of the itinerary, which we also enjoyed very much. The transportation was very good and fast to our final destination.

A fab day out!
Had an absolutely fabulous time!! I went solo but the small group nature of the trip meant it was a great experience. Our tour guide Cam was incredible! So knowledgable about a huge variety of topics - from New Zealand history, farming, culture and much more!!! I’ve already booked my next cheeky kiwi tour!

Stunning views and informative guide!
Great drive and rich with luscious greenery. We really valued the info that Grant (our guide) offered and his helpful tips. There was the ability to opt in to the Te Puia experience, so give it a thought if you have the time. Grant showed us around town as well, giving us the sort of friendly service only a Kiwi could provide. Would definitely recommend and say that it is worth the money!

Memorable & Thankful experience
The tour started timely with our guide Simon picking us up at the meeting place at 6am. He's friendly and cheerful. He shared and chat with the guests who are from a diverse group such as US, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, etc. The drive was smooth & scenic and he always share with us what's ahead in advance before the next stop. He looks out for the guests and checked that everyone is present. We would also like to thank Simon for going the extra mile in dropping us at our hotel in Rotorua & helping to carry our luggages. The Waitimo caves is "wow, woo, ah...." just can't pinpoint any words to describe what I saw and felt there & then. I am glad to have been there to view such magnificent & iconic destination! Thank you for the constant reminders to us so as not to forget the activity & most importantly for the seamless coordination. Kudos to Simon & the team for doing a great job!

Totally worth it….unreal beauty
This trip was one of the best trips we took during our trip to Queenstown. The drive was long but worth it for the views. Highly recommend to use a company so the tour guide can tell you about history and all which you will need for the 3ish hour one way drive. Our tour guide Jeff was amazing and so well informed. He was also a photographer so took a lot of really good pictures which was an added bonus. We would be using this company again and hope we can be paired up with Jeff again as well

Breathtaking scenery worth visiting
Milford sound looked breathtaking in the rain. The smaller cruise boat allowed us to get very close to the waterfall and seals which was really cool. Driver was super knowledgeable about everything we saw on the way. Unfortunately we couldn’t fly back and had to do bus instead because of the weather, but still totally worth it.

Worthwhile trip to see New Zealand sights & Milford Sound.
Danny was a wonderful driver/guide. He gave us a clear itinerary right at the start & was very cognizant of the needs of his passengers. I was particularly impressed how he managed to keep the little visitors happy while maintaining control in his driving. Overall - the information provided helped to enhance the experience. Weather conditions are what they are & the adventure was well worth the price- those roads can be rough but Danny kept us safe & well informed. 😎

Absolutely outstanding day trip from Queenstown to Milford Sound. Danny was a fantastic guide and driver (probably the best we’ve ever had on a trip like this). He kept us on track, entertained, and fed every step of the way, and was very knowledgeable throughout. He was also a great and safe driver. Appreciated the small and very comfortable bus and smaller yet very stable boat.

Our Milford Sound trip from Queenstown with Cheeky Kiwi was a very long day, but it turned into a truly memorable experience thanks to our guide, Raghav Thakur. Raghav was incredibly patient, well-organized, and punctual throughout the entire journey. From the early start to the late return, he ensured everything ran smoothly and on time. He took great care of the group, was always approachable, and handled the long hours with calmness and a positive attitude. He shared interesting information along the way, managed breaks perfectly, and made sure everyone was comfortable and well looked after. We had a wonderful experience on our trip to Milford Sound. The bus was clean, comfortable, and punctual. Our guide, Shura, was friendly and passionate as she shared info about the wildlife and plants during the journey. She was also very flexible with the group's request i.e. skip unnessary toilet breaks. The lunch was great and appreciated the complimentary snacks and drinks. Also, there is a possibility to upgrade your trip to fly back to Queenstown if you have a changed in mind. Highly recommended!

Tutor guide was Raghav. Extremely polite and helpful. Well aware of the facts and gave us lot of info enroute. We made so many stops so we could maximise on sightseeing. It made the overall experience memorable for us. Unfortunately our return flight got cancelled due to bad weather but then an amazing experience over all.

Was able to see the beauty of SouiNee Zealand by automobile and plane. Both drivers were excellent at explaining what we were seeing and offering us breaks to use facilities, stretch out legs and eat/drink. It was beautiful weather to top it off!

Just Do It! A Stunning Nature Experience
A fantastic experience! The best tour I've ever been on. We were in a small 16-seater bus and the tour guide (Shoe) was very warm, friendly and informative and clearly loves her job. We stopped at several very scenic places along the way which made the long trip to Milford interesting and not at all tiring. We were lucky enough to spot several native NZ birds at places we stopped at including a Kaka and a Kakapo. The Milford Sound boat tour was absolutely stunning and really enjoyable. We had a dry day but due to rain a couple of days earlier, there was still plenty of waterfalls. As the boat was small, it could get in close to the waterfalls which was a wonderful experience. We were lucky enough to see dolphins and seals too. The weather was cold, but having a down jacket and a water and wind proof jacket on, plus a warm hat meant that I was still warm outside on the decks. I also had my bird watching binoculars with me which added to the whole amazing experience. The lunch provided was excellent and catered well for different diets. The flight back was awesome and really worth it. As the weather was clear, we had fabulous views of the mountain tops, glaciers, lakes and hills. The pilot was great with her commentary. All up, I found Cheeky Kiwi Travel a really excellent company to deal with. I'd booked with them through Viator. They were very quick at responding to my email questions and I really liked that they picked me up close to my accomodation and then after the flight they dropped me right back to where I was staying.

Stunning views and a memorable trip
Had a wonderful trip to Milford Sound led by Dean from Cheeky Kiwi. It was such a memorable day. It was fascinating to learn about the natural landmarks during the drive to Milford Sound and also about the local wildlife. There was a good amount of toilet breaks too. The cruise was amazing - the scenes are simply breathtaking. We were fortunate to be able to fly back and I could t recommend it enough - the views from the skies were awesome! A highlight of our trip.

Amazing family experience
Beautiful family experience. The tour guide/driver Zoey was amazing, friendly and organized. The drive to milford sound and the flight back was more scenic than the actual boat cruise. The flight back was breathtaking. We were lucky we had great weather.

A group of friends and I were lucky enough to experience the beauty of Milford Sound with Chris as our guide. Chris was kind, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable — even about things I didn’t know I needed to know. Our flight back was canceled due to high winds, but honestly, we didn’t even mind. Chris made the drive back fun and enjoyable, and the time flew by. In just one day with Chris, I learned more about this beautiful country than I did in the entire week leading up to it. We booked onto the trip short-notice and were so glad that we did! Shura was an excellent guide who is incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. I particularly loved to learn about botany and birds. Jason and Angelo took us on a day trip from Queenstown to Milford Sound. They were fantastic hosts and guides , providing a very enjoyable and informative day full of interest, fun and a deep appreciation of the sublime landscape we travelled through Jason’s personable approach and his local knowledge was a real highlight , making the day relaxed and enjoyable despite the ambitious agenda . Jason was a great guide. Picked us up at Te Anau and the trip to Milford Sound was amazing and fun with lots of stops and Jason sharing his knowledge and life experiences. Totally recommend Jason as your guide and the small bus was so much better than a larger vehicle. Great lifetime experience!!

Great experience highly recommend
Really good experience with a lot of good stops on the way there and back. Stopped for toilet many times, cafe with great sausage roll, many photo opportunities beyond what was listed on Viator - nice surprise. Our tour guide was Chris and he was extremely knowledgeable and I found that the way he presented the information was highly engaging. Was great that it was a small group tour which I didn’t expect. Description was slightly unclear as to whether the hooker track would be an option (to only walk the part that is open) - it ended up being only Tasman glacier as our stop which was still great but could have been clearer on the description. Feedback is that some stops were rushed e.g. 20 mins at the orchard, high country salmon Overall highly enjoyable and would recommend.

We had a wonderful day at Mt Cook through Cheeky Kiwi. The day was exciting and enthralling with plenty of activities and time to soak in the amazing atmosphere. Big shout out to Lynette and her offsider ( sorry forgot his name) for organising, driving and for their warm, engaging and hospitable manner. Fascinating day with the highlights being the hikes and the glacier views.

Mt Cook - a MUST do!!!
Cullen, our tour guide, was phenomenal. He gave us a lot of information on the way up to Mount Cook and offered some great suggestions. I ended up doing the heli / ski plane up to Mt Cook. Absolutely wonderful. Again, kudos to Cullen! He made it an experience for us to remember. He was very accommodating to different people doing different things.

Our driver Joe had done a great hosting and driving us around. I liked the sightseeing stops and the coffee/salmon/ice cream stops. My experience can't be any better. Lovely way to enjoy my journey! Highly recommended to travel with Cheeky Kiwi!

The tour guide was very friendly and kind. She helped me book my trip back from Mt. Cook to Queenstown, even though I had trouble booking it online. She enthusiastically drove us to many hikes around the Mt. Cook area and pointed out which ones were worth visiting. She was also kind enough to drop me off at my hostel. I’m looking forward to watching her movie. It was amazing to hear her story, moving from Russia and transitioning from being a farmer to becoming a tour guide. Unfortunately, I forgot her name, I’m not very good with names, but I sincerely wish her all the best in life.

The best ride!
Very comfortable ride and great commentary about the areas. The photo opportunity stops and rest breaks were nice and evenly spaced. The only downside was the I had to take another vendor from Christchurch TO Mt. Cook (I traveled one way from Christchurch to Queenstown, with an overnight stop in Mt Cook village)!

Wonderful tour
Tour guide Marry was excellent at storytelling. During the journey, she shared the story of Matakauri, which was truly touching. She also provided information about Arrowtown and Queenstown, and gave informative answers to our questions about possums. The tour was well-organised and everything ran on time.

No stress trip from Mount Cook to Queenstown!

A beautiful way to see highlights of NZ!
Lynette was a fabulous guide to lead us on this rainy day. She had great knowledge of the area and kept us on time to enjoy all spots to our comfort level. Rosie was a little more pressed for time on the back end so that portion didn’t feel as lovely! Seeing Lake Tekapo with the blooming lupines was incredible!!

Great company, tours and people. My second tour with them. Small group, very flexible in pick up and drop offs. Kristina is a great tour guide. Lots of stories and facts about the area. She went out of her way to get my bag that I left on one of the stops. Great favour that I really appreciate, or my vacation would be ruined. This would never be possible with the big bus. Scenery is amazing. We had time to do some trail hiking. Bus change went smoothly. They even changed the bus driver at the end (it’s only allowed to drive for max 14 hours in NZ) so that everyone would be dropped off at our hotels. I have booked several other tours with Cheeky Kiwis as I trust they will be doing a great job. Thank you, guys!

My unforgettable experience in Christchurch
We did not see the beauty of Mt. Cook because it was raining but the Scenic view was nice. I love my Christchurch experience. Visiting the botanical garden was my wow moments.i visited 2x to satisfy myself to appreciate the beauty of their different kinds of pretty flowers. I enjoyed like a kid smelling the aroma of fresh flowers and trees. I love Christchurch because the tourist center is only a walking distancenfrom my hotel

I had the best day on the trip from Queenstown to Christchurch! Hannah and Grant my two tours guides were super friendly and kind- they kept the energy throughout the long day and told many interesting and fun stories! We were lucky the weather also paid in our favour but as someone without a car it was amazing to get to see so much on the journey up and I felt there was a good amount of time to do some of the walks along the way considering the distance! Grant even went the extra mile and came back for me when I forgot my bag and for this I was extremely grateful!

Unforgettable day!
Great way of getting from Queenstown to Tekapo and seeing Aoraki/Mt Cook! We’re travelling NZ using the intercity buses but wanted to see more of the Lindis Valley & Aoraki without staying there so booked this. So glad they offer it as not many places do! We had bad weather at Aoraki but our guide Kris got us there safely and we managed to do some of the hikes despite the storm. Unforgettable experience even if it wasn’t the weather we hoped for. Great photo spots and comfortable bus. Only things that could improve was the guide who dropped us at Tekapo (not Kris) wouldn’t drop us near our accommodation (Lakes Edge Holiday Park) so we had to walk 20min with all our bags in the storm. I understand there being limited drop-offs but thought they might be more lenient with the storm (especially as the bus wasn’t full as lots of people had cancelled due to the weather). Also didn’t think the salmon farm was the best stop, who is buying salmon on a day trip to Mt Cook lol! Would be better to stop at the lavender farm round the corner or just do more photo stops, a non-native fish farm didn’t seem the best use of time or the most pleasant! Otherwise a great day and much better than rushing through on an Intercity bus. Thank you Kris and for the extra stop to see the lupin!💜

Efficient way to get from Queenstown to Lake Tekapo. Everyone turned up on time and guides were knowledgeable (lady and gentleman). Good stops for pictures. Good group size and comfortable van

Overall, great family experience
Felix and Nick were great guides. Though we had a rainy day at Mount Cook, Felix was accommodating and offered alternative activities for guests to enjoy. Transition also between transportation was smooth. Lastly, the transportations were spacious and comfortable though it was packed. Will definitely recommend.

Amazing!!!
This tour was honestly just incredible! They picked me up from my hotel in a fancy van and we saw some amazing photo stops up to Mt Cook. They took me to see the Tasman Glacier and also some of the Hooker Valley track. The end is closed because they are building a new bridge but the bit we did was awesome! The guide was so helpful and friendly. Really good company.

Kimberly, our bus driver, is an absolutely wonderful person. She is remarkably strong and dedicated, effortlessly handling large, heavy luggage on her own —truly impressive! Despite the chilly early morning, she greeted us with warmth and expertise, instantly brightening our day. She also offered invaluable advice and thoughtful suggestions to help us plan our hike along the Mount Cook Walking Track. Though the day started cloudy, her cheerful encouragement kept our spirits high, and we were delighted when the sun finally broke through by midday. The Best Guide in Auckland - Pearl is Amazing!
We had an incredible experience with Pearl. Even though we were part of a group tour, she made the entire trip feel like a private, VIP experience. A really nice tour, our Guide Grant was fab. I really enjoyed our stop at the black sand beach, breathtakingly beautiful. Davenport is a cute little town, Mt. Eden wonderful. The place we had lunch at was very cool - it was outdoors with a beach-modern feel to it. This was my 5th Cheeky Kiwi tour in 2 weeks and I have loved them all. I go on another tomorrow! I’m a solo traveler and I’m so grateful for their dedication to making sure I’m enjoying myself. For not canceling tours when not at capacity (I’m traveling during the off-season). I can easily say they have been a big part of how amazing my trip has been.

Incredible place on a beautiful day
Departure was almost 30 minutes delayed due to some no-shows, then we started the transfer to Coromandel peninsula. We knew, that hot water holes would be impossible for today, but we stopped there for some time to feel the place. Then we reached the Cathedral cove after a detour due to missed junction. The place itself is incredible and I would recommend it to everyone to visit it. Although the forecast promised rain, we had a sunny day. I was surprised, that there were only few people. Then we had a short stop in Hahei for lunch (and a quick beach visit) and a visit to Thames Goldmine Experience. Som eguys in the group were not happy about it, but I think it was worth seeing and learning something new about the place and history of this part of New Zealand. Traffic jam in Aucklands suburbs is something that we could not change, but it was not that bad as it appeared in first few minutes. Our guides were Mark and Trent. Great guys, but I think their little weakness is orientation and sticking to schedule :-) But travelling with them is safe and we talked a lot abot our life experience from different countries. I can recommend Cheeky Kiwi as a tour operator for your plans on NZ.

Friendly tour guide snd a relaxing tour of some beautiful places
This was such a wonderful experience, Mark was a great tour guide, very friendly, chill and really brought the group together. He was very informative and allowed us plenty of time to enjoy each place without feeling rushed. We had plenty of stops there and back and saw some beautiful sites and hot water beach was a great experience. Would highly recommend if you’re apprehensive about guided tours as I was.

Best trip decision we made!
This 2-day tour was the absolute highlight of our trip. From The Glow Worm Caves (Waitomo) to Hobbiton to Rotorua and Taupo, we never stopped being amazed by the beauty and wonder that is New Zealand. Two days of jaw dropping magical experiences
The tour guide Pearl, went above & beyond. The sites were jaw dropping amazing. Hobbiton was so magical. The glow worm caves were spectacular. We enjoyed stopping in Rotorua, swimming in the thermal pool and stopping to wade in the warm thermal stream. The geothermal pools were a feast of incredible, natural beauty. Pearl was so helpful and anticipated our every need. The two day tour packed in a lot with extra stops of interest! We loved it and I would highly recommend it!
