An Unforgettable Blend of Movie Magic and Culture

We had an absolutely fantastic day visiting Hobbiton and the Waitomo Caves. While the scenery was breathtaking, what truly made the trip stand out was our guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable, specifically regarding the indigenous Maori history and their connection to the land. We walked away not just with great photos, but with a deep understanding of the local culture. Hobbiton was perfectly detailed and felt like stepping into another world, and the glowworm caves were ethereal. If you’re looking for a tour that balances entertainment with genuine education, this is it!

Must see!!

Jayme was awesome! She had so much knowledge to share. The tour ran smoothly and on time. She even came back after dropping us off to return an umbrella we had left. 10/10 for Jayme and this lovely excursion.

A definite must-do in NZ

Really enjoyable. Excellent and a must-see when in NZ. Left Auckland, & arrived 2 hours later. One of the first tours, followed by a delicious lunch .. highlight was going into a Hobbit hole! We went with Bush and Beach - highly recommend touring with them!

Awesome tour guide

I highly recommend Cheeky Kiwi as a tour guide. He was very friendly and accommodating. The Hibbiton was amazing. You will not be dissatisfied. Everyone should experience Hobbiton even if your are not a Lord of the Rings or Hobbit fan. My mother never watched the movie and she enjoyed the tour.

Hobbiton/Caves

We had a great tour with Vicky. Loved Hobbiton and the Waitomo caves, plus lunch at the Thirsty Weka was delicious! Highly recommend this tour!

Amazing tour!

Amazing experience in all respects. Our driver was great in giving us the local history as she was driving and was a very safe driver. The Hobbiton Tour blew us out of the water as beyond expectations for how incredible it was to see it all and here the set building details and rebuilds for later movies in the Trilogy. The Glow Worm tour was overrated in my opinion and went at a slow pace but very cool caves! Would highly recommend Cheeky Kiwi Travel for any tours!

We actually booked a private tour for Waitomo Caves and Hobbiton - 8 of us. Jeoff was our fantastic guide. He met us before our scheduled time as we exited our cruise ship in a very large Mercede-Benz van. Toured a bit of the Auckland area before heading out to Waitomo. Made it in time despite a little traffic. Had a quick bite to eat at Waitomo before tour started. Tour was fine and interesting. Then onto Hobbiton which wasn't that far away. We all enjoyed our tour there as well. Jeoff provided commentary and info along the way. He returned us back to our cruise ship in time to have our final meal of the cruise! Cheeky Kiwi is a great company to work with. All my questions were answered thru email quite promptly. Appreciated their efficiency. And a great big thank you to Jeoff for taking care of us for the day!!

Great tour with a knowledgeable and passionate guide

You can truly feel the guide’s passion for his work. The explanations throughout the journey were very detailed, and the service was thoughtful and attentive, making the whole experience comfortable and relaxing. It allowed us to fully enjoy the trip with ease and happiness.

If you're able to, book it and go, a great day out.

Matt our cheeky kiwi driver was engaging, prompt and friendly. Pick up options were convenient and close to my hotel. The hobbiton tour was the highlight of the day even with some heavy rain, didn't dampen our spirits. The glow worm cave is a shorter experience but the staff are very knowledgeable and it's well run, you can't take pictures so you have to see for yourself! Beautiful caves! Great day with great people :)
